About the event

Transferable skills for the workplace and community participation: storytelling as a persuasive tool

Public speaking and persuasive communication are important employability skills for our students. In the foreign language classroom, storytelling is commonly used both as a tool for language learning and as an end in itself, but it has also become an increasingly prominent strategy in contemporary entrepreneurial communication. This seminar explores how storytelling activities can be reframed as opportunities to develop persuasive communication skills that are valuable in both civic and professional contexts.

We will offer practical advice, activities and modern techniques for effective, persuasive, and memorable storytelling. This approach is part of a broader effort to equip our language students with the communicative competencies required of engaged citizens and professionals, independently of the career path they might choose.
