Creative writing on the theme of 'let their art speak'. Launch date: Tuesday 29 November 2022. We are delighted to introduce the ninth issue of our online Creative Writing magazine, Babble. Issue Nine centres on the theme of 'let their art speak', allowing our writers to give a voice to images that inspire them. The writers have unearthed the unspoken stories concealed in brushstrokes, tended to watercolour gardens, thawed the frozen time of photographs, imagined conversations between subjects sitting for their portrait. The issue features 26 contributions from 25 students across our European languages: 25 on the theme 'let their art speak', and one book review. We’re an online magazine, a creative space for you to practise your target language(s) and receive useful feedback and guidance on your work, whether that’s prose, drama, poetry or reviews. We want to showcase what you’re good at, grow our sense of community, and promote multilingualism. The first issue of Babble was supported by alumni and friends of the University of Edinburgh through an Innovation Initiative Grant. In March 2021, Issue Six's editorial committee was nominated for The Dean of Students Award for Contribution to Student Experience in the CAHSS Recognition Awards. Babble is perhaps the finest symbol of our efforts to make DELC a welcoming, collaborative and encouraging community of linguists, whatever language they practise.
