About the event

A screening of award-winning Spanish film 'Karen' (dir. María Pérez Sanz, 2020), an intimate portrayal of Danish author Karen Blixen.

The event includes an introduction given by a series of DELC academics: Dr Barbara Tesio-Ryan, whose research has extensively focused on Karen Blixen; Dr Anna Vives, who will be situating the film within its contemporary Spanish context; and Dr Inma Sánchez García, who will be contextualising the film as a highly innovative biopic from a feminist and intermedial perspective.

After this 15-minute introduction, we will proceed to the 1-hour long screening of 'Karen' and, last but not least, we will have an online Q&A session with María Pérez Sanz herself.

Drinks and savoury nibbles will be provided.

Are you interested in studying European Languages and Cultures?

Our interdisciplinary environment brings together specialists in nine European languages, and the many cultures worldwide in which they're spoken, with experts in film, literature, theatre, translation and intermediality. Working with colleagues elsewhere in LLC, and across the wider University, we are able to support research which crosses boundaries between disciplines and/or languages.
