About this event

Swedish-Czech-Polish writer Andrzej Tichý will read from his short story collection, Purity. In Purity, Tichý negotiates the conflicts and struggles that post-migrant individuals have to contend with in Malmö.

Purity has been translated from Swedish into English by translator Dr Nichola Smalley and is due to be published in June 2024 (publisher: And Other Stories).

Discussing transnational identities and belonging, Dr Smalley will add her expertise in translating multiethnic slang to the conversation. Following the panel discussion, there will also be plenty of time for a Q&A and informal chats.

Andrzej Tichý and Nichola Smalley are also hosting a creative writing and translation workshop, open to all students at the University of Edinburgh, on Wednesday 27 March from 4pm to 6pm. Both events are supported by the Swedish Institute.
