About the event

As a part of the Spotlight Programme 2022 at the London Book Fair, we welcome two award-winning Catalan authors.

The event will feature a Q&A with the writers as well as readings from students.

Bel Olid

Bel Olid has been awarded several literary prizes. Amongst other subjects, they have written about contested gender identities for both adults and children and immigration.

They are also a cultural and political activist. Their collection of short stories 'Vents més salvatges' has very recently been published in English as 'Wilder Winds' (2022).

Borja Bagunyà

Borja Bagunyà is one of the most prominent 21st-century voices in Catalan literature. He has published several collections of short stories which gained public acclaim.

Last year, his first novel 'Els angles morts' ('The Dead Angles') was released. Some critics have labelled it as one of the best Catalan novels of the 21st century. He is also a literary award winner.

About the Spotlight Programme

The Spotlight Programme is designed to create collaboration between selected publishing markets and The London Book Fair to highlight their literature to an international audience.

In 2022, the programme showcases Catalan literature, and events beyond London Book Fair will be taking place across the UK to bring Catalan culture closer to the general public.
