Romantic Boundaries: BARS ECR & PGR Conference 2023 In brief Venue - 50 George Square Organiser - Amanda Blake Davis (University of Derby), Cleo O’Callaghan Yeoman (Universities of Glasgow, Stirling, and Edinburgh), and Yu-Hung Tien (University of Edinburgh) Programme highlights - Two keynote speeches and six parallel panels About the conference The British Association for Romantic Studies (BARS) Early Career and Postgraduate Conference explored the theme of ‘boundaries’ within the context of Romantic-period literature and thought. The Oxford English Dictionary defines the term ‘boundary’ as: ‘That which serves to indicate the bounds or limits of anything whether material or immaterial; also the limit itself.’ With this in mind, the ‘Romantic Boundaries’ conference united early-career and postgraduate researchers whose work considers the concept and representations of boundaries – both tangible and intangible – from as wide a range of critical perspectives as possible.
