The 2008 production was "Humble Boy," by Charlotte Jones. This award winning play ran at the Bedlam Theatre in Week 8 of Semester 2 (26th February-1st March 2008). Image All is not well in the Humble hive. Felix Humble is a Cambridge astro-physicist in search of a unified field theory. Following the sudden death of his father, Felix returns to his middle England home and his difficult and demanding mother (Flora Humble: ex-bunny girl), where he soon realises that his search for unity must include his own chaotic home life. This is a witty and intelligent play about the disfunctional nature of family life with an exciting supernatural twist at the end! Set in an English country garden, this play has everything from theoretical astrophysics to nose-jobs. Cast FELIX HUMBLE: Simon Ginty (Mid 20's. Cambridge astro-physicist. Extremely intelligent but socially awkward). FLORA HUMBLE: Hannah Mendoza (Late 40's. Ex-bunny girl, self-absorbed and vain). MERCIE: Gwennie Von Einsiedel (Unpaid elderly housekeeper. Very conservative, aversion to confrontation). GEORGE PYE: Harry Wright (Bumbling idiot, loud 'upper class twit'). ROSIE PYE: Shaunie Brett (George's daughter. Practical and down-to-earth single mum). JIM: Paddy Loughman (The 'gardener'. A little mysterious). Rich, original, intelligent, funny and touching. I can't recommend this lovely play too highly. Daily Telegraph sad, very sad; funny, very, very funny...this is a seriously wonderful play.
