About the event

The fourth annual Northern Early Modern Network (NEMN) conference is this year being held at the University of Edinburgh, with the theme being '‘Ipsa scientia potestas est:’ Cultures of Knowledge, Learning, and Imagination in the Early Modern World'. This conference will showcase the work of academics and postgraduate researchers from all over the world who are studying the early modern period.

The conference consists of a number of panels, the topics of which can be found below in the programme, and a keynote lecture from Dr Inma Sánchez García (University of Edinburgh) entitled 'Queering Romeo and Juliet on Contemporary Screen Cultures: From the Netherlands to Ukraine'. Full details of other speakers and their paper titles are available at time of booking your space.

About the network

The Northern Early Modern Network was originally established to provide a regional network for early modern scholars in Scotland and the north of England. Since its creation, the scope of the NEMN has been extended and includes members from around the world.

NEMN helps to facilitate connections between postgraduate research students and early career researchers across the United Kingdom and beyond, as well as to provide a hub of information about events, conferences, and resources relevant to early modernists.
