The room is wheelchair-accessible, and the event will be BSL interpreted. This will be a "relaxed" event, meaning that you are free to move in and out of the room as you require. If you have any other specific access requirements, please get in touch with the event organiser, Dr Hannah Simpson.

About the speakers

Jenny Sealey

Jenny Sealey (OBE) is the Artistic Director of Graeae, one of the world's premier disability-led theater companies. She has pioneered an innovative new 'aesthetics of access' in the theatre with her experiments in BSL performance, audio description, embedded access and creative captioning. Her directorial credits include "peeling", "Bent", "Blasted", "Blood Wedding", "The Threepenny Opera", and the 2012 Paralympic Opening Ceremony.

Mike Kenny

Mike Kenny is a playwright who works frequently with Graeae. His playwriting credits include "This is Not For You", "Fittings: The Last Freak Show", "Caitlin", "Electric Darkness", "Random Selfies", "Jimmy and his Sisters", "Walking the Tightrope" and the libretto for "Calderland: A People's Opera". He has been featured on The Independent on Sunday's "Top Ten Living Playwrights" list, and Jackie Hagan describes him as "genuine and unguarded in a way that a lot of successful people aren't. [...] He makes you think you know what you are on about".
