Being and Otherness In brief Date - 16 August 2023 Venue - Baillie Gifford West Court Festival - Edinburgh International Book Festival Book your ticket on EIBF's website About the event Friends and creative collaborators, the poet and playwright Hannah Lavery and poet Marjorie Lotfi were awarded a Second Life grant from the Edwin Morgan Trust to respond to the poetry of Edwin Morgan while exploring their experience as 'mixed-race' women in Scotland in poem-letters sent to one another across the spring of 2023. Join the supremely talented Lavery and Lotfi as they continue this excavation in this special performance and launch of their accompanying pamphlet. You can also find Marjorie at a range of other events at the Book Festival, including a number hosted by her charity 'Open Book', which she co-founded with Claire Urquhart and which organises shared reading and creative writing groups across Scotland. Our courses explore the relationship between literary texts and the construction of national, international and imperial cultures. Working with colleagues in LLC and across the wider University, we are able to support postgraduate research which crosses boundaries between languages and disciplines.
