Our speaker is Ian Gittens, a Barbadian businessman based in Scotland. His background is in the airline industry and finance, and he has worked for British Airways, British West Indian Airways, Carib West Airways, and Allied Dunbar. He created the Haig Consortium in 1986. Mr Gittens is active in furthering British-Barbadian relations: he is the Chair of Business Friends of Barbados in Scotland and sits on the UK committee in London. In addition, he is a member of the Cross-Party Group on the Caribbean at the Scottish Parliament. This team works to advance the mutual interests of Scotland and the Caribbean in areas such as trade, investment, tourism, and in representing the interests of people with a Caribbean background living and working in Scotland.
