Democratic memory/historical memory This one-day seminar on democratic memory is convened by José Saval (University of Edinburgh) and Gabriel Sansano (Universitat d’Alacant), drawing on the work of the Història i Poètiques de la Memòria (HISPOME) research group.It is a space for reflection and joint evaluation; bringing together various lines of interdisciplinary research, and sharing works that are being developed right now, by experts from different research centres and several countries.The specific period under discussion starts with the implementation of the Law of Press and Printing in 1966 and continues until the Law of Historical Memory in 2007.Together, the convenors are interested in bringing together methodologies and partial results on the topic of democratic memory, and trying to merge the individual work of each one of the specialists into a much bigger group project.SpeakersBringing together researchers from a range of institutions, our speakers include:Alexis Grohmann (University of Edinburgh)Santiago Bertrán (University of Edinburgh)Maribel Corbí (Universitat d’Alacant)José Miguel Santacreu (Universitat d’Alacant)Catherine O’Leary (St Andrews University)Andrew Dowling (Cardiff University)Neus Roig & Modesta Salazar (Observatorio de la Desaparición Forzada de Menores)Maria Llombart (Université d’Avignon)Isabel Marcillas (Universitat d’Alacant)The seminar is a collaboration between: Història i Poètiques de la Memòria (HISPOME) at the Universitat d’Alacant; Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies at the University of Edinburgh; Càtedra Interuniversitària de Memòria Democràtica de la C.
