About the event

In this Author Reading, we feature Elle Nash, a prolific writer and editor who just published an absorbing collection of short stories, and recent graduate Mohamed Tonsy who has just released his debut novel - a dystopian book on freedom and revolt in 2030s Egypt.

Elle Nash

Elle Nash is the author of the novels Gag Reflex (Clash Books, 2022) and Animals Eat Each Other (Dzanc Books), which was featured in the 2018 June Reading Room of O - The Oprah Magazine and hailed by Publishers Weekly as a ‘complex, impressive exploration of obsession and desire.’

Nudes (SF/LD Books and 404 Ink), her debut short story collection, is out now.

Her work appears in Guernica, BOMB, The Nervous Breakdown, Literary Hub, The Fanzine, Volume 1 Brooklyn, New York Tyrant and elsewhere.

She is a founding editor of Witch Craft Magazine and has edited fiction at both Hobart Pulp and Expat Literary Journal.

Elle will be in conversation with Alex Penland.

Mohamed Tonsy

Mohamed Tonsy is a queer Egyptian writer, ceramicist, and recent PhD Creative Writing graduate from the University of Edinburgh.

His writing has appeared in Mizna, Epoch Press, was shortlisted in MFest’s 2021 Short Story Competition and won a Quarterly John Byrne Award. His debut novel, You Must Believe in Spring was published in October 2022 by Hajar Press.
