In this special Author Reading, we feature two poets with debut collections:

Alycia Pirmohamed

Alycia Pirmohamed is the author of the chapbooks Hinge (ignitionpress), and Faces that Fled the Wind (BOAAT Press), and co-author with Pratyusha of Second Memory (Guillemot Press and Baseline Press).

Her debut collection, Another Way to Split Water, is forthcoming with YesYes Books and Polygon Books in 2022. She is the co-founder of the Scottish BAME Writers Network, a co-organiser of the Ledbury Poetry Critics Programme, and a Junior Anniversary Fellow at IASH via the University of Edinburgh.

Lauren Pope

Lauren Pope was raised in Los Angeles and lives in Edinburgh. She runs courses in Creative Writing, British Literature and Contemporary British Theatre and Performance at the Scottish Universities’ International Summer School (SUISS).

Her poetry pamphlet, Announce This (Templar Poetry), was shortlisted for the 2018 Callum Macdonald Memorial Awards. She is a 2019 Manchester Poetry Prize finalist, and winner of the 2021 Brotherton Poetry Prize.

Her debut collection, Always Erase, was published by Blue Diode Press in January.
