In brief

Date - 12 November 2025

Venue - Lecture Theatre B, 40 George Square

Speaker - Ellice Stevens (actor and writer) and Billy Barrett (director and writer)

About the event

This event will see Billy Barrett (director and writer) and Ellice Stevens (actor and writer) in conversation about their award-winning theatre company Breach Theatre, focusing particularly on their play 'It’s True, It’s True, It’s True' alongside their other work. Join us for discussion about how – and why – Breach operate as a devised theatre company in today’s theatre landscape… and just what their work has to say about ‘the truth’.

This in-conversation event will be followed by an audience Q&A.

About the speakers

Breach Theatre are a multi-award-winning devised theatre company. Recent work includes It’s True, It’s True, It’s True (2018), After the Act (2023) and Tank (2016). They are currently developing Burning Down the House, telling the story of writer Laura Kieler, the ‘real’ Nora from Ibsen’s A Doll’s House.

Breach says: “We uncover stories that captivate us – from an experiment into teaching dolphins English, to a rape trial in Renaissance Rome, to the impact of homophobic legislation in the 1980s – using them to provoke alternative perspectives and to illuminate the times in which we live.”
