A free online series of co-created events linked to the Italy by Design module at University of Edinburgh. Italy by Design is a practice-led course open to honours and postgraduate students at the University of Edinburgh. Taught by Italian Studies staff at the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures, the course focuses on the art of cultural transmission working selectively on the material success of the invention of Italy in the last 500 years.Alongside the course, a guest speaker series hosted was developed, and we're delighted to come together for a third series ahead of the publication of a forthcoming book, named after the course. Image credit: Federico Lancellotti, Unsplash About the seriesThis year, the Italy by Design guest series is divided into six thematic panels, bringing together the 33 scholars contributing to Italy by Design (the book) and former and current students of Italy by Design (the course). Each seminar lasts an hour and 15 minutes and consists of a panel of guest speakers and early career respondents, including current students. Each guest speaker is given five minutes to present their case as part of the opening round-table conversation, and respondents will have 20 minutes to offer comments and counter-arguments. The closing Q&A is open to all.For our last event in the series, we reverse the roles of guest speakers and respondents, giving students a chance to take on the role as presenters. How to joinEvents are open to all and no registration is necessary. The events are held online using Microsoft Teams.
