We are delighted to host the 2019 Biennial Conference of the Society for Italian Studies UK.

We are deligthed to have five distinguished Keynote Speakers – Susan Bassnett, Jhumpa Lahiri, Lino Pertile, Igiaba Scego and Walter Siti – taking part in the SIS Biennial 2019, Edinburgh, 26-28 June 2019.

We are also delighted to announce that Lino Pertile (Harvard – formerly, Edinburgh 1988-1995) will deliver the first Peter Brand Lecture as part of our Conference.

The Society for Italian Studies furthers the study of Italy, Italian language, literature, film, thought, history, society and arts in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The Edinburgh Gadda Prize is powered by the Edinburgh Gadda Projects. Founded in 2000 to celebrate the Italian Modernist Carlo Emilio Gadda, the Projects have since grown into a formidable network making Edinburgh the premier centre for the promotion of Gadda Studies worldwide.

The Edinburgh team consists of staff and students of the University of Edinburgh.
