St Petersburg State University Image Dr Golubev graduated from St Petersburg State University, Russia with a degree in philology, in 1992. He received a PhD in Germanic Philology from St Petersburg State University in 1996. His thesis focused on argumentation in the American print media. From 2002 to 2005, he worked on secondment at Heriot-Watt University and the University of Edinburgh, UK where he taught Russian, Translation and Interpreting. Currently, he is Reader and Head of the Department of English for the Faculty of Journalism, St Petersburg State University. Dr Golubev is the author of over forty papers in Russian and international journals. His research interests include argumentation in the media, the role of media in public diplomacy and propaganda, and translation studies.
