Dr Corinne Bigot is senior lecturer in English and Commonwealth Literatures at the University of Toulouse Jean Jaurès, France. Her research focuses on Canadian women writers (19th century to 21st century writers), with special interests in the poetics of silence, and in the postcolonial short story. Many of her published essays and four books (single-authored and edited books) are devoted to the Canadian short story writer Alice Munro. She published Alice Munro: Les Silences de la nouvelle and Sunlight and Shadows, Past and Present (co-authored with Catherine Lanone) in 2014. In 2015 she edited a special issue of Commonwealth Essays and Studies (37-2) entitled Alice Munro: Writing for Dear Life, and co-edited a volume of essays entitled With a Roar from Underground: Alice Munro's Dance of the Happy Shades (with Catherine Lanone); She has also devoted several essays to Catharine Parr Traill's and Susana Moodie's life writings, underlying the tensions at work in these colonial texts from Canada.  She has been a member of Paris Nanterre’s research group on women writers for many years and has co-organized several conferences on women’s life writing at Paris Nanterre.  Women’s Life Writing and the Practice of Reading, a volume of essays co-edited with other members of the research group, is forthcoming (with Palgrave MacMillan).

She is currently working on diasporic short fiction by women writers from Asia, The Caribbean and Africa, working on the idea of « culinary dislocations » and the diasporic body, focusing on texts that foreground the female body, touch, and culinary memory.
