The Nicola Benedetti Scholarship Fund was established in 2011 to generate long-term support for Italian Studies at Edinburgh. The primary aim of the Fund is to provide financial support for talented graduate students who otherwise may not have the chance to pursue their academic goals in Italian Studies at Edinburgh. Community participation in the knowledge networks resulting in this way is also central to the initiative. The official launch of the Scholarship took place with a recital by Nicola Benedetti in the Abbey in Montecassino, as part of the 4th edition of the Edinburgh Gadda Prize, Montecassino 2013.
