About the event

Join the department of Celtic and Scottish Studies in welcoming acclaimed Scottish writer Donald S. Murray to give a talk in both poetry and prose, and Gaelic and English. Donald will be exploring the legacy and impact of emigration on Scotland's Western Isles.

About the speaker

A native Gaelic-speaker from Ness, the Isle of Lewis, who is now based in Shetland, his work ranges from poetry, plays, short stories, novels and essays, and he is a frequent contributor to print, broadcast and social media. His debut novel, As the Women Lay Dreaming, won the Paul Torday Memorial Prize in 2020, and was shortlisted for The Herald Scottish Culture Awards Outstanding Literature Award and the Authors' Club Best First Novel Award in 2019.
