About the event

This talk takes its title from an illustrated volume which Dr Peter Kormylo recently published, based on the doctoral research he carried out at the University of Glasgow and his own experience as the son of Ukrainian and Scottish parents. In it, he has traced the history of incomers to Scotland from Ukraine over several past generations into the present time.

His father came to Scotland as a Prisoner of War, working on farms in the south-west of the country, and his mother belonged to a family whose members were well versed in the works of Robert Burns. Both cultures have shaped his life and his interests, and his seminar includes a timely taste of the rich story of Ukrainian translations of Burns' works.

How to join

Joining a seminar is free, and everyone is welcome. No booking is required.

All seminars take place online fortnightly on Fridays from 13.00 to 14.00.  Please contact Dr Neill Martin to be added to the mailing list for an invitation, link and passcode.
