About the event

Join us for an evening dedicated to raising awareness about Palestine and the Palestinian people, based around the launch of two new books by Mourad Diouri (Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies), 'An ABC of Quotes about Palestine', and 'An ABC of Palestine: A Journey To Discover Palestine & The Palestinian People For Kids & Grown Ups'. The two books were written and compiled by Mourad Diouri with reviews, contributions and translations from colleagues and students throughout the IMES department and the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures more broadly.

The event will include a variety of captivating activities:

  • Discussion groups: Delve into enlightening discussions that will broaden your understanding of Palestine's history, culture, and current reality.
  • Book launch: The unveiling of not one, but two books on Palestine: 'An ABC of Quotes about Palestine', and 'An ABC of Palestine: A Journey To Discover Palestine & The Palestinian People For Kids & Grown Ups' by Mourad Diouri. There will also be an opportunity to get your books signed by the author.
  • Readings: During the event, Mourad will share poignant excerpts from the two books.
  • Exhibition and gallery: Immerse yourself in the visual journey of 'An ABC of Palestine'. The exhibition will feature thought-provoking posters that capture the essence of the books, providing a visual feast for the senses.
  • Fundraising: Contribute to raising funds that directly impact the lives of Palestinians. 100% of all proceeds from the event will go towards humanitarian aid in Palestine; specifically to the PalMed-UK Gaza Appeal.
  • Bake sale: Indulge your taste buds in a bake sale, where every treat purchased also contributes to the PalMed-UK Gaza Appeal.
  • Moroccan herbal tea: Transport your senses to the landscapes of Morocco with complimentary herbal tea.

This event is more than an occasion; it's a celebration of culture, resilience, and unity.
