Guy is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Alwaleed Centre, funded by a Gerda Henkel Foundation project with Professor Frederic Volpi on Islamic movements in North Africa. Located at the nexus of politics, sociology, social and political theory, and methods associated with anthropology, Guy's research examines the politics of prominent Islamic movements in North Africa that claim they 'don't do politics'. He has recently published articles in Mediterranean Politics and Democratization. Through a collaboration with colleagues at the Alwaleed Centre's sister centre, the Centre of Islamic Studies in the University of Cambridge, Guy delivered an important symposium bringing together scholars and activists to explore the drivers of change within and across transnational Islamic movements in the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe (https://www.cis.cam.ac.uk/research/current-research/rethinking-transnational-islamic/). Based on this collaboration, he co-organised a podcast series for the Alwaleed Centre and the Centre of Islamic Studies (https://llc.ed.ac.uk/alwaleed/rethinking-podcast). He is currently co-organising a special issue on transnational Islamic movements for Religion, State, and Society.
