The British Association for Islamic Studies awards the BRAIS Prize in the Study of Islam and the Muslim World annually to one outstanding doctoral thesis. The BRAIS Prize is open to English-language submissions on any aspect of the academic study of Islam and the Muslim world, past and present, including Muslim-minority societies, and applicants can be based in any country.
We are now looking to involve publishers in the Prize process by offering the opportunity for publishers with interests in Islamic Studies, broadly defined, to become Prize sponsors.
In return for a modest sponsorship fee, publishers would be credited in the Prize promotion and would have access to all submitted manuscripts, as well as the comments of our expert reviewers. For context, 17 manuscripts were received in the 2025 round of the Prize. If we receive sufficient interest from a range of publishers, we would hope to institute the new sponsorship model for the 2026 Prize round. If you would like further information about the BRIAS Prize and the opportunity to become a sponsor, please tick the box below and we will follow-up with further details.
