Film Studies and Film, Exhibition and Curation at the summer festivals
Every year, Film Studies and FEC staff and alumni get involved in events across the summer festivals in Edinburgh. Their events were open to the public, and they feature a multitude of themes relevant to the contemporary culture and society.

In brief: Two events programmed as part of the Edinburgh International Film Festival's Unlocking the Archives and The Young and The Wild strands. Looking for Lucey involved a public discussion with students on our MSc in Film, Exhibition and Curation about the creative process behind their March 2018 event at Assembly Roxy, while Moving Music was a collaboration with Tinderbox Orchestra to perform an original score for the same work.

In brief: A showcase of seven short films on the theme of entering adulthood by students from the UK’s film academies, carefully curated and presented by students on our MSc programme in Film, Exhibition and Curation. Programmed and screened as part of the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2018.

In brief: A unique soirée celebrating scientific film pioneer, Eric Lucey, with archive films, live music by Opul, and spoken word. A collaboration between students on our MSc in Film, Exhibition and Curation and the University of Edinburgh’s Centre for Research Collections using additional material from the Scottish National Library Moving Image Archive. The event marked the opening of Timescapes, a series of three events exploring observations of time through cinema, including as part of the Edinburgh International Science Festival 2018.
