About the speaker
Dr Adam Cathcart is an Associate Professor of East Asian History at the University of Leeds. His interests and expertise lies in Northeast China, ethnic Koreans in China, Chinese Communist Party, Sino-North Korean relations, Japanese war crimes trials, the Sino-Korean border region, and Chinese perceptions of Japan.
Adam is currently working on a series of projects united by broader interests in transnational movement of people and ideas around the time of the Chinese Civil War and the Korean War. His areas of PhD supervision relate to 20th century East Asian history, especially projects dealing with the Chinese Communist Party, foreign relations in the Cold War, and occasionally topics relating to the arts and politics.
About the Distinguished Lecture series
Each year, the Scottish Centre for Korean Studies welcomes a fantastic range of guest speakers to give a free public lecture. They cover a range of topics, from literature and poetry to international relations.
Often, speakers will present on recent publications, and audiences have the opportunity to participate in question and answer sessions after presentations.
