About the event

At our third and final screening, we're showing Neko Ninja (2017), the world's first 'cat ninja' action film, directed by Takeshi Watanabe.

Doors will open at 5.15pm and the introductory talk by Helen Parker will start at 5.30pm, followed by the film screening.

Refreshments, including sake and Japanese snacks, will be served after the screening.

Film summary

Kagerota, a rogue ninja, is a wanted man as his clansmen believe that he knows the whereabouts of powerful scrolls which tells the mythical skills of warriors shapeshifting to win battles. Dodging pursuing ninjas, Kagerota takes “Father,” an overweight, golden-haired and red-nosed cat, in his bag on his journey.

A series of free film screenings and short talks, co-organised by the Consulate General of Japan in Edinburgh and the Japanese Studies department at the University of Edinburgh.
