Authority in the Globalised Muslim World

As part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Alwaleed Centre for the Study of Islam in the Contemporary World, the conference “Authority in the Globalised Muslim World” offers a platform to discuss current research on a topic that has long been and remains a central matter of interest for the study of contemporary Muslim societies.

Three thematic panels and a keynote lecture by Professor Masooda Bano will capture some of the many ways by which authority is established, represented, negotiated, contested, and often reshaped within and across the global geography of Muslim communities.

The various contributions will also question dichotomous understandings of authority based on assumed elite/grassroots, gendered or geographical “centres” and “peripheries”.

This conference is free of charge but booking is essential. You can book your free tickets via Eventbrite HERE.

PLEASE NOTE: When you register you will be given the option to book for the whole conference or for an individual day (either Monday 16th or Tuesday 17th).
