  • Established a ground-breaking dual degree programme which will see scores of Indonesian students undertake the Alwaleed Centre's MSc The Globalised Muslim World programme in the coming years.
  • Welcomed nine new academic colleagues.
  • Published 18 academic monographs, articles and book chapters.
  • Delivered 4 international conferences and workshops.
  • Taught six honours and masters level courses exploring the rich diversity of the contemporary Muslim world.
  • Generated new and exciting research findings through three major research projects funded by the European Research Council, the Economic and Social Research Council and the Collaboration of Humanities and Social Sciences in Europe.

Over the last year, the Alwaleed Centre has continued to grow and develop, expanding its reach to new audiences and stakeholders locally, nationally and internationally. This past year has seen the Centre sign a major new scholarship agreement with partners in Indonesia, welcome new and dynamic colleagues from across the world, consolidate its portfolio of ground-breaking externally funded research projects and take the lead in launching a major new international academic and cultural network. Closer to home, our celebrated outreach programme has engaged with many hundreds of young people across Scotland and the Centre also launched an exciting new forum for Arabic speakers across the university and beyond. All of this in addition to the core research and teaching which is helping to establish our Centre as preeminent in the field of Islam in the contenmporary world.
