Zainab holds an MA in Psychology from the University of Edinburgh and a COSCA-accredited Certificate in Counselling Skills. After completing her studies, she spent several years in frontline mental health roles, specialising in supporting young people from diverse backgrounds, including ethnic minority groups and those facing socioeconomic challenges. She then transitioned to project management and coordination, working with various Scottish councils, government agencies, organisations, and charities to support and empower ethnic minority communities. Zainab’s work emphasises fostering dialogue and communication across cultures and religions, while also focusing on upskilling, building confidence, and enhancing community engagement. Her experience is further enriched by having lived in the UAE for several years and by frequent travels, which have deepened her understanding of diverse cultures.

Zainab has managed a diverse portfolio of projects over the course of her career and has a proven track record in organising large-scale events. Her extensive network of relationships with community leaders and key stakeholders across Scotland and the UK has been crucial in driving the success of her initiatives.

As the Outreach and Projects Coordinator at the Alwaleed Centre, Zainab collaborates closely with partners in local and national government, education, and the public sector. Her role is central to the Alwaleed Centre's mission of improving public understanding of Islam and addressing stereotypes and misconceptions about Islam and Muslims.
