Alwaleed Postgraduate Scholarships

The Alwaleed Centre offers financial support to PhD students at the University of Edinburgh who are supervised by a member of the Centre's academic team.

Scholarships

University of Edinburgh PhD students who are supervised by at least one member of the Alwaleed Centre's academic team are eligible to apply for a £5000 scholarship once they have successfully passed their first year review. Parttime students can apply for a scholarship of £2500.

Students  can apply for the scholarship in each subsequent year of study. However, the number of scholarships is limited each year, so the process will be competitive. Success one year does not guarantee success in subsequent years.

To apply apply for the scholarship, please email the following documents to: thealwaleedcentre@ed.ac.uk by 1 October of the current academic year:

  • Your first year review submission
  • A two-page cover letter detailing the progress you have made with your project and your plans for the coming year
  • A references from at least one of your PhD supervisors

A decision will be made within two weeks of the 1 October deadline.
